Fish without fries is good for the eyes
But eaten with chips it puts weight on the hips
The Eskimaux upon the ice
Do not spend much time growing rice
Because their very favorite dish
Comprises fried or sun-dried fish.
Their children's favorite food by far
Is pickled oysters from a jar.
The Japanese are rather quiet
About fishiness within their diet
But, though they eat a lot of rice,
They find that fish is rather nice
And eat a good deal, rich or poor.
Sometimes they even eat it raw.
We Japanese Pirates
The strangest foods, I think perhaps,
Are those digested by the Laps
For up in Lapland's northern clime
There is no store to spend a dime
So snack time, when it comes to you,
Brings slices of boiled caribou.
In Lapland, for a special treat,
They sometimes have fresh fish to eat
Which always tastes so very nice
When caught from down below the ice,
But if the ice is just too thin
They eat pink salmon from a tin.
The people of the Southern Seas
Spend days in water to their knees
Catching fish with rod and line
For there the weather's always fine.
They sometimes catch a Dab or Flounder.
One man caught a twenty-pounder.
Fish dinners are good for you
Folk living by the ocean shore
Don't buy food down at the store.
They spend their days out on the sea
Netting fish to eat for tea
And, when they've had some with a cuppa,
They catch some more to cook for supper.
They are good for me too!
